77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the authority of a political subdivision to propose for
1010 voter approval the issuance of general obligation bonds for a
1111 purpose rejected by voters at a bond election held during the
1212 preceding two years.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Chapter 1253, Government Code, is amended by
1515 adding Section 1253.0015 to read as follows:
1616 Sec. 1253.0015. LIMITATION ON AUTHORITY TO PROPOSE ISSUANCE
1717 OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS. A political subdivision may not
1818 submit a proposition to approve the issuance of general obligation
1919 bonds to the voters if the political subdivision submitted a
2020 proposition to approve the issuance of such bonds to the voters for
2121 the same purpose within the preceding two years and the voters
2222 failed to approve the proposition.
2323 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2424 to a proposition submitted to voters for which the election was
2525 ordered on or after the effective date of this Act.
2626 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
