13 | 13 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 1. Chapter 1253, Government Code, is amended by | |
15 | 15 | adding Section 1253.0015 to read as follows: | |
16 | 16 | Sec. 1253.0015. LIMITATION ON AUTHORITY TO PROPOSE ISSUANCE | |
17 | 17 | OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS. A political subdivision may not | |
18 | 18 | submit a proposition to approve the issuance of general obligation | |
19 | 19 | bonds to the voters if the political subdivision submitted a | |
20 | 20 | proposition to approve the issuance of such bonds to the voters for | |
21 | 21 | the same purpose within the preceding two years and the voters | |
22 | 22 | failed to approve the proposition. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
24 | 24 | to a proposition submitted to voters for which the election was | |
25 | 25 | ordered on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
