77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the creation and elimination of certain state holidays.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 662.003(b), Government Code, is amended
1212 to read as follows:
1313 (b) A state holiday includes only the following days:
1414 (1) the 19th day of January, "Confederate Freedom Day"
1515 [Heroes Day," in honor of Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and other
1616 Confederate heroes];
1717 (2) the second day of March, "Texas Independence Day";
1818 (3) the 21st day of April, "San Jacinto Day";
1919 (4) the 19th day of June, "Emancipation Day in Texas,"
2020 in honor of the emancipation of the slaves in Texas in 1865;
2121 (5) the 27th day of August, "Lyndon Baines Johnson
2222 Day," in observance of the birthday of Lyndon Baines Johnson;
2323 (6) the Friday after Thanksgiving Day;
2424 (7) the 24th day of December; and
2525 (8) the 26th day of December.
2626 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
