|---|
| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 16.0332, Election Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-2) to read as |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (a) After the registrar receives notification under |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Subsection (a-1) of this section, Section 18.068 of this code, or |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Section 62.113, Government Code, of persons excused or disqualified |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | from jury service because of citizenship status or notification of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | persons who indicate a lack of citizenship status in connection |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | with a motor vehicle or Department of Public Safety record as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | provided by Subsection (a-1) or other record as provided by |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Subsection (a-2), the registrar shall deliver to each registered |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | voter whose name appears on the list a written notice requiring the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | voter to submit to the registrar proof of United States citizenship |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | in the form of a certified copy of the voter's birth certificate, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | United States passport, or certificate of naturalization or any |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | other form prescribed by the secretary of state. The notice shall |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | be delivered by forwardable mail to the mailing address on the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | voter's registration application and to any new address of the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | voter known to the registrar. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (a-2) The secretary of state shall compare on a monthly |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | basis the citizenship status information in the existing statewide |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | computerized voter registration list against citizenship status |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | information available from: |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (1) birth certificate records maintained by any state |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | or local government agency; |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | (2) the American Association of Motor Vehicle |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Administrators; |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | (3) the United States Department of Homeland Security; |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | (4) the Help America Vote Verification (HAVV) |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | information system maintained by the United States Social Security |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | Administration; and |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | (5) any other database containing citizenship status |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | information the secretary of state may access. |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
