9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 38, Education Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 38.041 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 38.041. RESTRICTING ACCESS TO CERTAIN WEBSITES | |
13 | 13 | PROHIBITED. A school district or open-enrollment charter school | |
14 | 14 | may not restrict access to an Internet website, including by using | |
15 | 15 | filtering software, that provides resources for students related | |
16 | 16 | to: | |
17 | 17 | (1) mental health or suicide prevention; | |
18 | 18 | (2) human trafficking; | |
19 | 19 | (3) interpersonal or domestic violence; | |
20 | 20 | (4) sexual assault; | |
21 | 21 | (5) child abuse; | |
22 | 22 | (6) substance abuse; or | |
23 | 23 | (7) bullying. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 | |
25 | 25 | school year. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
27 | 27 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
28 | 28 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
29 | 29 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
30 | 30 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
