11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 26.006(a), Government Code, is amended | |
13 | 13 | to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (a) A county judge is entitled to an annual salary | |
15 | 15 | supplement from the state in an amount equal to 18 percent of the | |
16 | 16 | annual [state base] salary paid to a district judge with comparable | |
17 | 17 | years of service as the county judge as set by the General | |
18 | 18 | Appropriations Act in accordance with Section 659.012 [659.012(a)] | |
19 | 19 | if at least 18 percent of the: | |
20 | 20 | (1) functions that the judge performs are judicial | |
21 | 21 | functions; or | |
22 | 22 | (2) total hours that the judge works are in the | |
23 | 23 | performance of judicial functions. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | |
25 | 25 | a salary payment for a pay period beginning on or after the | |
26 | 26 | effective date of this Act. A salary payment for a pay period | |
27 | 27 | beginning before the effective date of this Act is governed by the | |
28 | 28 | law in effect on the date the pay period began, and that law is | |
29 | 29 | continued in effect for that purpose. | |
30 | 30 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
