| 9 | 9 | | relating to the issuance of specialty license plates for recipients |

| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 504.3015(a), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (a) A person applying for a set of license plates under this |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | subchapter shall pay the registration fee required under Chapter |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 502 and the applicable special plate fee required under this |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | section, except that one set of license plates shall be issued |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | without the payment of the registration fee under: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (1) Section 504.308; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (2) Section 504.310(b); |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (3) Section 504.315, other than Subsections (c) and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (q) of that section; [and] |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (4) Section 504.319; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (5) Section 504.331; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (6) Section 504.337. |

| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 2. Section 504.331, Transportation Code, as added |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | by Chapter 1050 (S.B. 280), Acts of the 88th Legislature, Regular |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Session, 2023, is redesignated as Section 504.336, Transportation |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Code, to read as follows: |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Sec. 504.336 [504.331]. OPERATION FREEDOM'S SENTINEL. The |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | department shall issue specialty license plates for persons who |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | served in the United States armed services and participated in |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Operation Freedom's Sentinel. The license plates must include the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | words "Freedom's Sentinel." |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 3. Section 504.331, Transportation Code, as added |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | by Chapter 506 (H.B. 2503), Acts of the 88th Legislature, Regular |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Session, 2023, is redesignated as Section 504.337, Transportation |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Code, to read as follows: |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Sec. 504.337 [504.331]. TEXAS HUMANITARIAN SERVICE MEDAL. |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | The department shall issue specialty license plates for recipients |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | of the Texas Humanitarian Service Medal. The license plates must |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | include: |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | (1) the words "Texas Humanitarian Service Medal"; and |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | (2) a depiction of the Texas Humanitarian Service |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | Medal emblem. |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | SECTION 4. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | over another Act of the 89th Legislature, Regular Session, 2025, |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | codes. |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
