77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the issuance of specialty license plates for recipients
1010 of certain Texas military awards.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 504.3015(a), Transportation Code, is
1313 amended to read as follows:
1414 (a) A person applying for a set of license plates under this
1515 subchapter shall pay the registration fee required under Chapter
1616 502 and the applicable special plate fee required under this
1717 section, except that one set of license plates shall be issued
1818 without the payment of the registration fee under:
1919 (1) Section 504.308;
2020 (2) Section 504.310(b);
2121 (3) Section 504.315, other than Subsections (c) and
2222 (q) of that section; [and]
2323 (4) Section 504.319;
2424 (5) Section 504.331; and
2525 (6) Section 504.337.
2626 SECTION 2. Section 504.331, Transportation Code, as added
2727 by Chapter 1050 (S.B. 280), Acts of the 88th Legislature, Regular
2828 Session, 2023, is redesignated as Section 504.336, Transportation
2929 Code, to read as follows:
3030 Sec. 504.336 [504.331]. OPERATION FREEDOM'S SENTINEL. The
3131 department shall issue specialty license plates for persons who
3232 served in the United States armed services and participated in
3333 Operation Freedom's Sentinel. The license plates must include the
3434 words "Freedom's Sentinel."
3535 SECTION 3. Section 504.331, Transportation Code, as added
3636 by Chapter 506 (H.B. 2503), Acts of the 88th Legislature, Regular
3737 Session, 2023, is redesignated as Section 504.337, Transportation
3838 Code, to read as follows:
3939 Sec. 504.337 [504.331]. TEXAS HUMANITARIAN SERVICE MEDAL.
4040 The department shall issue specialty license plates for recipients
4141 of the Texas Humanitarian Service Medal. The license plates must
4242 include:
4343 (1) the words "Texas Humanitarian Service Medal"; and
4444 (2) a depiction of the Texas Humanitarian Service
4545 Medal emblem.
4646 SECTION 4. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails
4747 over another Act of the 89th Legislature, Regular Session, 2025,
4848 relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted
4949 codes.
5050 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
