| 13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Subtitle F, Title 10, Government Code, is | |
| 14 | 14 | amended by adding Chapter 2278 to read as follows: | |
| 15 | 15 | CHAPTER 2278. PROHIBITED TRANSACTIONS WITH STATEWIDE PERIODICALS | |
| 16 | 16 | OR INTERNET NEWS WEBSITES | |
| 17 | 17 | Sec. 2278.001. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "state agency" | |
| 18 | 18 | has the meaning assigned by Section 2251.001. | |
| 19 | 19 | Sec. 2278.002. CERTAIN TRANSACTIONS WITH STATEWIDE | |
| 20 | 20 | PERIODICALS OR INTERNET NEWS WEBSITES PROHIBITED. A state agency | |
| 21 | 21 | may not use money appropriated by the legislature to place an | |
| 22 | 22 | advertisement in or make a donation to a statewide periodical or | |
| 23 | 23 | Internet news website that is supported by donations, memberships, | |
| 24 | 24 | and the sale of advertising space in the periodical or on the | |
| 25 | 25 | website. | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
