11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 154.125(a), Family Code, is amended to | |
13 | 13 | read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (a) The guidelines for the support of a child in this | |
15 | 15 | section are specifically designed to apply to situations in which | |
16 | 16 | the obligor's monthly net resources are not greater than $30,000 | |
17 | 17 | [the maximum amount of net resources to which the statutory | |
18 | 18 | guidelines are applicable, as most recently published by the Title | |
19 | 19 | IV-D agency in the Texas Register]. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. Section 154.125(a-1), Family Code, is repealed. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act to Section | |
22 | 22 | 154.125, Family Code, applies only to a suit affecting the | |
23 | 23 | parent-child relationship that is filed on or after the effective | |
24 | 24 | date of this Act. A suit filed before the effective date of this Act | |
25 | 25 | is governed by the law in effect on the date the suit is filed, and | |
26 | 26 | the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
