77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to designating July as American Patriotism Month.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 662.117 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 662.117. AMERICAN PATRIOTISM MONTH. (a) July is
1414 American Patriotism Month to:
1515 (1) celebrate the United States of America and honor
1616 the values and principles on which it was founded; and
1717 (2) recognize:
1818 (A) the brave patriots who fought for the right
1919 of self-governance in the American War of Independence and those
2020 who volunteered to serve this country in every conflict fought
2121 since the founding of this country;
2222 (B) the founding fathers of the United States of
2323 America and the framers of the Constitution;
2424 (C) the astronauts who won the space race and
2525 walked on the moon, and the people who supported them;
2626 (D) the civil rights leaders and activists who
2727 risked their lives to fight for equal rights for all Americans; and
2828 (E) the resilience, patriotism, and unity shown
2929 by the American people after the September 11, 2001, terror
3030 attacks.
3131 (b) American Patriotism Month shall be regularly observed
3232 by appropriate ceremonies and activities that help citizens develop
3333 a sense of national pride and national identity.
3434 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3535 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3636 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3737 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3838 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
