| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended by adding Section 662.117 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 662.117. AMERICAN PATRIOTISM MONTH. (a) July is |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | American Patriotism Month to: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) celebrate the United States of America and honor |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the values and principles on which it was founded; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) recognize: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (A) the brave patriots who fought for the right |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | of self-governance in the American War of Independence and those |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | who volunteered to serve this country in every conflict fought |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | since the founding of this country; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (B) the founding fathers of the United States of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | America and the framers of the Constitution; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (C) the astronauts who won the space race and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | walked on the moon, and the people who supported them; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (D) the civil rights leaders and activists who |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | risked their lives to fight for equal rights for all Americans; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (E) the resilience, patriotism, and unity shown |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | by the American people after the September 11, 2001, terror |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | attacks. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (b) American Patriotism Month shall be regularly observed |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | by appropriate ceremonies and activities that help citizens develop |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | a sense of national pride and national identity. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
