| 12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 13 | 13 | SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding any distance or attendance | |
| 14 | 14 | limitations established under the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic | |
| 15 | 15 | Control Devices for recreational and cultural interest area guide | |
| 16 | 16 | signs, and subject to Subsection (c) of this section, the Texas | |
| 17 | 17 | Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain a sign to | |
| 18 | 18 | designate the entrance to the Gulf of America at an appropriate | |
| 19 | 19 | location along Interstate Highway 45 near Galveston. | |
| 20 | 20 | (b) The sign required by Subsection (a) of this section must | |
| 21 | 21 | include the phrase "Welcome to Galveston, Gateway to the Gulf of | |
| 22 | 22 | America." | |
| 23 | 23 | (c) Except as otherwise provided by Subsection (a) of this | |
| 24 | 24 | section, a sign erected under this section may not violate the Texas | |
| 25 | 25 | Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices or the Manual on Uniform | |
| 26 | 26 | Traffic Control Devices issued by the United States Department of | |
| 27 | 27 | Transportation Federal Highway Administration. | |
| 28 | 28 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
