| 12 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter Y, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, |
|---|
| 14 | 12 | | is amended by adding Section 201.2004 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 13 | | Sec. 201.2004. EDUARDO "EDDIE" GRACIA, JR., P.E., AREA |
|---|
| 16 | 14 | | ENGINEER AND MAINTENANCE FACILITY. (a) The building in which, on |
|---|
| 17 | 15 | | January 1, 2025, is located the office of the area engineer for |
|---|
| 18 | 16 | | Starr County is designated as the Eduardo "Eddie" Gracia, Jr., |
|---|
| 19 | 17 | | P.E., Area Engineer and Maintenance Facility. |
|---|
| 20 | 18 | | (b) Subject to Subsection (c), the department shall: |
|---|
| 21 | 19 | | (1) design and construct markers at the site of the |
|---|
| 22 | 20 | | facility indicating the designation as the Eduardo "Eddie" Gracia, |
|---|
| 23 | 21 | | Jr., P.E., Area Engineer and Maintenance Facility and any other |
|---|
| 24 | 22 | | appropriate information; and |
|---|
| 25 | 23 | | (2) update existing signage along the highway on which |
|---|
| 26 | 24 | | the facility is located to reflect the designation described by |
|---|
| 27 | 25 | | Subdivision (1). |
|---|
| 28 | 26 | | (c) The department is not required to design or construct a |
|---|
| 29 | 27 | | marker or update existing signage under this section unless a grant |
|---|
| 30 | 28 | | or donation of private funds is made to the department to cover the |
|---|
| 31 | 29 | | cost of the design and construction of the marker or update of the |
|---|
| 32 | 30 | | existing signage. |
|---|
| 33 | 31 | | (d) Money received under Subsection (c) shall be deposited |
|---|
| 34 | 32 | | to the credit of the state highway fund. |
|---|
| 35 | 33 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 36 | 34 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 37 | 35 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 38 | 36 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 39 | 37 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
