| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 22, Parks and Wildlife Code, is amended |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | by adding Subchapter U to read as follows: |

| 13 | 13 | | SUBCHAPTER U. JULIA C. HESTER HOUSE STATE PARK |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 22.271. ESTABLISHMENT OF PARK; JURISDICTION. The |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Julia C. Hester House State Park is established under the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | jurisdiction of the department. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. (a) Julia C. Hester House State Park, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | established under Subchapter U, Chapter 22, Parks and Wildlife |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Code, as added by this Act, consists of the undeveloped land |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | appurtenant to the Julia C. Hester House settlement house and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | community center in the city of Houston. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (b) The Parks and Wildlife Department may acquire by |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | purchase, gift, lease, or condemnation the land described in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Subsection (a) of this section. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (c) Subchapter U, Chapter 22, Parks and Wildlife Code, as |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | added by this Act, takes effect on the date the Parks and Wildlife |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Department finally acquires all the land described in Subsection |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (a) of this section. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 3. Except as provided by Section 2(c) of this Act, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | this Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
