88 AN ACT
99 relating to information on classes or programs required to be
1010 completed before an inmate is released on parole.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Chapter 493, Government Code, is amended by
1313 adding Section 493.036 to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 493.036. INFORMATION ON CLASSES AND PROGRAMS REQUIRED
1515 FOR RELEASE ON PAROLE. The department shall publish on the
1616 department's Internet website the information required under
1717 Section 508.056.
1818 SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 508, Government Code, is
1919 amended by adding Section 508.056 to read as follows:
2020 Sec. 508.056. INFORMATION ON CLASSES AND PROGRAMS REQUIRED
2121 FOR RELEASE ON PAROLE. The board shall publish on the board's
2222 Internet website the following information for each class or
2323 program that the board requires an inmate to complete before
2424 releasing the inmate on parole:
2525 (1) curriculum for the class or program;
2626 (2) qualifications and relevant certifications of any
2727 instructor for the class or program;
2828 (3) completion rates of the class or program;
2929 (4) accommodations made for inmates with disabilities
3030 and inmates whose primary language is not English to ensure that
3131 those inmates are able to fully participate in the class or program;
3232 (5) methods used to assess inmates for participation
3333 in the class or program;
3434 (6) results of any independent evaluations used by the
3535 board when determining whether to require the class or program; and
3636 (7) if the class or program is provided by a private
3737 vendor:
3838 (A) information on the contract between the
3939 department and the private vendor; and
4040 (B) the vendor's history of providing the class
4141 or program at other correctional facilities.
4242 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
