| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 29, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended by adding Section 29.9076 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 29.9076. CELEBRATE VETERANS WEEK. (a) To educate |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | students about the sacrifices made by veterans to protect the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | freedoms enjoyed in this country, the week in which November 11 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | falls is designated as Celebrate Veterans Week in public schools. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | For purposes of this subsection, Sunday is considered the first day |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of the week. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (b) The agency, in cooperation with other state agencies who |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | voluntarily participate, may promote Celebrate Veterans Week |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | through a coordinated program. Nothing in this subsection shall |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | give any other state agency the authority to develop a program that |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | provides instruction unless funds are specifically appropriated to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | that agency for that purpose. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | school year. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
|---|
