| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 521.168, Transportation |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 521.168. PAYMENT OF FEES FOR CERTAIN [FOSTER AND |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | HOMELESS] CHILDREN AND YOUTHS. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. Section 521.168(a), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (a) Unless prohibited under Section 521.4265(c), the Texas |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Workforce Commission shall on request pay the fees associated with |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | meeting a requirement imposed under this subchapter or Chapter |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 1001, Education Code, for a person who is: |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (1) eligible for a driver's license fee exemption |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | under Section 521.1811; [or] |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (2) younger than 26 years of age and: |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (A) was in the managing conservatorship of the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Department of Family and Protective Services on the day before the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | person's 18th birthday; or |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (B) is a homeless child or youth as defined by 42 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | U.S.C. Section 11434a; or |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (3) educationally disadvantaged, as defined by |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Section 5.001, Education Code. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
