11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 601.001, Local Government Code, is | |
13 | 13 | amended to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 601.001. PARKING ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. (a) A | |
15 | 15 | municipality by ordinance may regulate the parking of motor | |
16 | 16 | vehicles on private property and may enforce the ordinance in the | |
17 | 17 | same manner that it enforces ordinances regulating parking in | |
18 | 18 | public no-parking zones, including the impoundment of offending | |
19 | 19 | vehicles. | |
20 | 20 | (b) As provided by Chapter 682, Transportation Code, a | |
21 | 21 | municipality with a population of 1.9 million or more may: | |
22 | 22 | (1) declare the violation of a municipal ordinance | |
23 | 23 | relating to the parking of an unattended motor vehicle in the front | |
24 | 24 | or side yard of a single-family residence in a residential area to | |
25 | 25 | be a civil offense; and | |
26 | 26 | (2) by ordinance establish an administrative | |
27 | 27 | adjudication hearing procedure under which a civil fine may be | |
28 | 28 | imposed. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
