| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 1367.253(a), Insurance Code, is amended | |
| 13 | 13 | to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (a) A health benefit plan must provide coverage for the cost | |
| 15 | 15 | of a medically necessary hearing aid or cochlear implant and | |
| 16 | 16 | related services and supplies for a covered individual who is 25 | |
| 17 | 17 | [18] years of age or younger. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 19 | 19 | to a health benefit plan delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed | |
| 20 | 20 | on or after January 1, 2026. A health benefit plan delivered, | |
| 21 | 21 | issued for delivery, or renewed before January 1, 2026, is governed | |
| 22 | 22 | by the law as it existed immediately before the effective date of | |
| 23 | 23 | this Act, and that law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
