| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 504, Transportation Code, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | is amended by adding Section 504.5131 to read as follows: |

| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 504.5131. RETIRED FIREFIGHTERS. (a) In this section, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | "retired firefighter" means a person who was formerly: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) a volunteer firefighter certified by: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (A) the Texas Commission on Fire Protection; or |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (B) the State Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Association of Texas; or |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (2) fire protection personnel, as defined by Section |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 419.021, Government Code. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (b) The department shall design and issue specialty license |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | plates for retired firefighters. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (c) There is no fee for the issuance of the license plates. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
