| 12 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 1301.002(5), Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 14 | 12 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 13 | | (5) "Master plumber" means a person licensed under |
|---|
| 16 | 14 | | this chapter who: |
|---|
| 17 | 15 | | (A) is skilled in the design, planning, and |
|---|
| 18 | 16 | | superintending of plumbing and in the practical installation, |
|---|
| 19 | 17 | | repair, and servicing of plumbing; |
|---|
| 20 | 18 | | (B) has worked as a journeyman plumber: |
|---|
| 21 | 19 | | (i) for at least two [four] years; or |
|---|
| 22 | 20 | | (ii) for at least one year and has |
|---|
| 23 | 21 | | successfully completed a training program approved by the United |
|---|
| 24 | 22 | | States Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship or another |
|---|
| 25 | 23 | | nationally recognized apprentice training program accepted by the |
|---|
| 26 | 24 | | board; |
|---|
| 27 | 25 | | (C) performs or supervises plumbing work; |
|---|
| 28 | 26 | | (D) has passed the required examination; and |
|---|
| 29 | 27 | | (E) has fulfilled the other requirements of the |
|---|
| 30 | 28 | | board. |

| 31 | 29 | | SECTION 2. As soon practicable after the effective date of |
|---|
| 32 | 30 | | this Act, the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners shall adopt |
|---|
| 33 | 31 | | rules as necessary to implement the changes in law made by this Act |
|---|
| 34 | 32 | | to Chapter 1301, Occupations Code. |
|---|
| 35 | 33 | | SECTION 3. Section 1301.002, Occupations Code, as amended |
|---|
| 36 | 34 | | by this Act, applies only to an application for a master plumber |
|---|
| 37 | 35 | | license under Chapter 1301, Occupations Code, submitted on or after |
|---|
| 38 | 36 | | the effective date of this Act. An application submitted before the |
|---|
| 39 | 37 | | effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the |
|---|
| 40 | 38 | | date the application was submitted, and the former law is continued |
|---|
| 41 | 39 | | in effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 42 | 40 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
