10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 6.001, Family Code, is repealed. | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act by the repeal | |
13 | 13 | of Section 6.001, Family Code, applies only to a suit for | |
14 | 14 | dissolution of a marriage that is filed on or after the effective | |
15 | 15 | date of this Act. A suit for dissolution of a marriage filed before | |
16 | 16 | the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect | |
17 | 17 | immediately before the effective date of this Act, and the former | |
18 | 18 | law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
