| 12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 13 | 13 | SECTION 1. STUDY. The chancellor of The University of Texas | |
| 14 | 14 | System shall designate a department or entity at the university to | |
| 15 | 15 | conduct a study regarding the feasibility of integrating into the | |
| 16 | 16 | electric grid additional facilities that use nuclear energy to | |
| 17 | 17 | generate electricity, including a comparison of the costs and | |
| 18 | 18 | benefits of nuclear fusion reactors and nuclear fission reactors. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. REPORT. The department or entity at The | |
| 20 | 20 | University of Texas System designated by the chancellor of the | |
| 21 | 21 | university system to conduct the study under Section 1 of this Act | |
| 22 | 22 | shall prepare a report with the conclusions of the study and submit | |
| 23 | 23 | the report to the legislature not later than September 1, 2026. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 3. EXPIRATION. This Act expires December 1, 2026. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September | |
| 26 | 26 | 1, 2025. |
