12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 56, Education Code, is | |
14 | 14 | amended by adding Section 56.0093 to read as follows: | |
15 | 15 | Sec. 56.0093. DESIGNATED TUITION SET-ASIDE FOR STUDENT | |
16 | 16 | FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROHIBITED. An institution of higher | |
17 | 17 | education may not cause to be set aside any amount of tuition | |
18 | 18 | charged to a resident student under Section 54.0513 to provide | |
19 | 19 | financial assistance for students enrolled in the institution under | |
20 | 20 | this chapter or other law. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 56, Education Code, is | |
22 | 22 | repealed. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act apply | |
24 | 24 | beginning with tuition charged for the 2026 spring semester. | |
25 | 25 | Tuition charged for any semester or other academic term before the | |
26 | 26 | 2026 spring semester is covered by the applicable law as it existed | |
27 | 27 | before the effective date of this Act, and the former law is | |
28 | 28 | continued in effect for that purpose. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
