9 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 12 | | SECTION 1. The State of Texas withdraws from the Interstate |
---|
11 | 13 | | Mining Compact under Section 132.002, Natural Resources Code, as |
---|
12 | 14 | | authorized by Article VIII of the compact. As soon as practicable |
---|
13 | 15 | | after the effective date of this Act, the governor shall: |
---|
14 | 16 | | (1) provide written notice of the withdrawal to the |
---|
15 | 17 | | governor of each state that is a party to the compact as provided by |
---|
16 | 18 | | that article; and |
---|
17 | 19 | | (2) publish notice of the withdrawal in the Texas |
---|
18 | 20 | | Register. |
---|
19 | 21 | | SECTION 2. On the first anniversary of the date the governor |
---|
20 | 22 | | publishes notice under Section 1(2) of this Act: |
---|
21 | 23 | | (1) the office of the Interstate Mining Compact |
---|
22 | 24 | | Commissioner for Texas is abolished; |
---|
23 | 25 | | (2) the Texas Mining Council is abolished; and |
---|
24 | 26 | | (3) Chapter 132, Natural Resources Code, is repealed. |
---|
25 | 27 | | SECTION 3. Except as otherwise provided by this Act, this |
---|
26 | 28 | | Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of |
---|
27 | 29 | | all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, |
---|
28 | 30 | | Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the |
---|
29 | 31 | | vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect |
---|
30 | 32 | | September 1, 2025. |
