11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
---|
12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subtitle F, Title 10, Government Code, is |
---|
13 | 13 | | amended by adding Chapter 2278 to read as follows: |
---|
14 | 14 | | CHAPTER 2278. PROHIBITED CONTRACTS WITH CERTAIN FEDERAL AGENCIES |
---|
15 | 15 | | Sec. 2278.001. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "state agency" |
---|
16 | 16 | | means: |
---|
17 | 17 | | (1) a board, commission, department, office, or other |
---|
18 | 18 | | agency in the executive branch of state government that is created |
---|
19 | 19 | | by the constitution or a statute of this state, including a river |
---|
20 | 20 | | authority and an institution of higher education as defined by |
---|
21 | 21 | | Section 61.003, Education Code; |
---|
22 | 22 | | (2) the legislature or a legislative agency; or |
---|
23 | 23 | | (3) the Supreme Court of Texas, the Court of Criminal |
---|
24 | 24 | | Appeals of Texas, a court of appeals, a state judicial agency, or |
---|
25 | 25 | | the State Bar of Texas. |
---|
26 | 26 | | Sec. 2278.002. CONTRACTS WITH BUREAU OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, |
---|
27 | 27 | | FIREARMS AND EXPLOSIVES PROHIBITED. A state agency may not enter |
---|
28 | 28 | | into a contract with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and |
---|
29 | 29 | | Explosives of the United States Department of Justice. |
---|
30 | 30 | | SECTION 2. Chapter 2278, Government Code, as added by this |
---|
31 | 31 | | Act, applies only to a contract entered into on or after the |
---|
32 | 32 | | effective date of this Act. A contract entered into before that |
---|
33 | 33 | | date is governed by the law in effect on the date the contract was |
---|
34 | 34 | | entered into, and the former law is continued in effect for that |
---|
35 | 35 | | purpose. |
---|
36 | 36 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
