| 10 | 10 | | standards adopted by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. |

| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 419, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 419.0471 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 419.0471. EXTENSION TO COMPLY WITH COMMISSION |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | STANDARDS. (a) A fire department may request an extension from the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | commission to comply with the minimum standards adopted under |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Section 419.047. The commission shall grant a request for an |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | extension if the fire department provides evidence the commission |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | finds sufficient to justify the extension. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (b) The commission shall adopt rules necessary to implement |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | this section. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (c) This section expires September 1, 2027. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. Not later than April 1, 2026, the Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Commission on Fire Protection shall adopt the rules required to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | implement Section 419.0471, Government Code, as added by this Act. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
