| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Chapter 26, Education Code, is amended by adding | |
| 13 | 13 | Section 26.014 to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 26.014. RIGHT TO NOTICE OF CERTAIN CHANGES RELATING TO | |
| 15 | 15 | STUDENT'S TEACHER. A school district shall provide notice as soon | |
| 16 | 16 | as practicable to a parent of a student enrolled in the district | |
| 17 | 17 | that a teacher or long-term substitute teacher, as defined by | |
| 18 | 18 | commissioner rule, to whom the student is assigned has: | |
| 19 | 19 | (1) formally changed the teacher's name with the | |
| 20 | 20 | district in accordance with district procedures; | |
| 21 | 21 | (2) been replaced; | |
| 22 | 22 | (3) been moved to a new assignment; or | |
| 23 | 23 | (4) been terminated from employment. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 | |
| 25 | 25 | school year. | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 27 | 27 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 28 | 28 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 29 | 29 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 30 | 30 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
