66 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
77 AN ACT
88 relating to the extension of groundwater reduction target years
99 established by the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Chapter 8801, Special District Laws Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 8801.1121, which reads as follows:
1313 Sec. 8801.1121. Groundwater Reduction Target Extension. (a)
1414 Notwithstanding any other provision of law or rule adopted by the
1515 Harris-Galveston Subsidence District, all deadlines for
1616 groundwater reduction mandates and conversion requirements set
1717 forth by the District are hereby extended by five (5) years from
1818 their original scheduled dates.
1919 (b) This extension applies to all applicable entities,
2020 including but not limited to:
2121 1. Municipalities
2222 2. Water utilities
2323 3. Industrial users
2424 4. Groundwater permit holders
2525 (c) The Harris-Galveston Subsidence District shall amend its
2626 regulations and enforcement schedules within 90 days of the
2727 effective date of this Act.
2828 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a
2929 vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3030 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3131 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3232 Act takes effect September 1, 2025
