12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 302, Labor Code, is | |
14 | 14 | amended by adding Section 302.0145 to read as follows: | |
15 | 15 | Sec. 302.0145. OPPORTUNITY YOUTH. For purposes of | |
16 | 16 | administering any federal workforce development funds available to | |
17 | 17 | assist opportunity youth in this state, unless federal law provides | |
18 | 18 | otherwise, the term "opportunity youth" means individuals who are: | |
19 | 19 | (1) at least 16 years of age but younger than 27 years | |
20 | 20 | of age; | |
21 | 21 | (2) unemployed; and | |
22 | 22 | (3) not enrolled in secondary or postsecondary | |
23 | 23 | education. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
