77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to individuals who are considered opportunity youth for
1010 purposes of administering certain federal workforce development
1111 funds.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 302, Labor Code, is
1414 amended by adding Section 302.0145 to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 302.0145. OPPORTUNITY YOUTH. For purposes of
1616 administering any federal workforce development funds available to
1717 assist opportunity youth in this state, unless federal law provides
1818 otherwise, the term "opportunity youth" means individuals who are:
1919 (1) at least 16 years of age but younger than 27 years
2020 of age;
2121 (2) unemployed; and
2222 (3) not enrolled in secondary or postsecondary
2323 education.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
