11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 551.007, Government Code, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (f) A governmental body conducting an open meeting shall | |
15 | 15 | allow members of the public who desire to address the governmental | |
16 | 16 | body regarding items not on the meeting agenda to address the | |
17 | 17 | governmental body regarding those non-agenda items before or during | |
18 | 18 | the governmental body's consideration of items on the agenda. The | |
19 | 19 | governing body may limit the number of persons allowed to address | |
20 | 20 | the governing body at the meeting under this subsection to not fewer | |
21 | 21 | than five. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
