77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the authority of a physician to supervise or delegate
1010 the prescribing or ordering of a drug or device to a physician
1111 assistant or advanced practice registered nurse.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 157.0511, Occupations Code, is amended
1414 by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
1515 (d) A physician may not supervise or delegate the
1616 prescribing or ordering of a drug or device under this subchapter to
1717 a physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse who
1818 practices in a medical specialty outside the scope of the
1919 physician's residency training or primary medical practice, unless
2020 the physician has not less than five years of previous practice
2121 experience in that specialty.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
