12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Section 157.0511, Occupations Code, is amended | |
14 | 14 | by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | |
15 | 15 | (d) A physician may not supervise or delegate the | |
16 | 16 | prescribing or ordering of a drug or device under this subchapter to | |
17 | 17 | a physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse who | |
18 | 18 | practices in a medical specialty outside the scope of the | |
19 | 19 | physician's residency training or primary medical practice, unless | |
20 | 20 | the physician has not less than five years of previous practice | |
21 | 21 | experience in that specialty. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
