11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 2.053, Election Code, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (f) If a declaration is made under Subsection (a), the | |
15 | 15 | political subdivision shall post the declaration on its Internet | |
16 | 16 | website until the 30th day after the date the unopposed candidate is | |
17 | 17 | sworn into office. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. Section 2.081(b), Election Code, is amended to | |
19 | 19 | read as follows: | |
20 | 20 | (b) If a measure is declared moot under this section and is | |
21 | 21 | removed from the ballot, the authority holding the election shall | |
22 | 22 | post notice of the declaration: | |
23 | 23 | (1) during early voting by personal appearance and on | |
24 | 24 | election day, at each polling place that would have been used for | |
25 | 25 | the election on the measure; and | |
26 | 26 | (2) on the authority's Internet website until the 30th | |
27 | 27 | day after the date of the election. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
