9 | 9 | | relating to coverage for maternal depression screenings under |

10 | 10 | | Medicaid and the child health plan program. |

11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 62.1511(b), Health and Safety Code, is |
---|
13 | 13 | | amended to read as follows: |
---|
14 | 14 | | (b) The covered services under the child health plan must |
---|
15 | 15 | | include up to four [a] maternal depression screenings [screening] |
---|
16 | 16 | | for an enrollee's mother, regardless of whether the mother is also |
---|
17 | 17 | | an enrollee, that are [is] performed during a covered well-child or |
---|
18 | 18 | | other office visit for the enrollee that occurs before the |
---|
19 | 19 | | enrollee's first birthday. |
---|
20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. Section 32.0561(b), Human Resources Code, is |
---|
21 | 21 | | amended to read as follows: |
---|
22 | 22 | | (b) The commission shall provide medical assistance |
---|
23 | 23 | | reimbursement for up to four [a] maternal depression screenings |
---|
24 | 24 | | [screening] for a recipient's mother, regardless of whether the |
---|
25 | 25 | | mother is also a recipient, that are [is] performed during a covered |
---|
26 | 26 | | examination for the recipient under the Texas Health Steps |
---|
27 | 27 | | Comprehensive Care Program that occurs before the recipient's first |
---|
28 | 28 | | birthday. |
---|
29 | 29 | | SECTION 3. If before implementing any provision of this Act |
---|
30 | 30 | | a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a |
---|
31 | 31 | | federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, |
---|
32 | 32 | | the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or |
---|
33 | 33 | | authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the |
---|
34 | 34 | | waiver or authorization is granted. |
---|
35 | 35 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
