12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Section 2, Article 38.072, Code of Criminal | |
14 | 14 | Procedure, is amended by adding Subsection (a-1) to read as | |
15 | 15 | follows: | |
16 | 16 | (a-1) This article applies to an individual's statement | |
17 | 17 | that meets the requirements of Subsection (a), regardless of the | |
18 | 18 | age of the individual at the time the statement was made. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a | |
20 | 20 | criminal proceeding that commences on or after the effective date | |
21 | 21 | of this Act. A criminal proceeding that commences before the | |
22 | 22 | effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the | |
23 | 23 | date the proceeding commenced, and the former law is continued in | |
24 | 24 | effect for that purpose. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
