66 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
77 AN ACT
88 relating to the waiver of license renewal fees for certain
99 instructors in high-demand fields at public institutions of higher
1010 education.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Chapter 57, Occupations Code, is amended by
1313 adding Subchapter D to read as follows:
1414 SUBCHAPTER D. WAIVER OF LICENSE RENEWAL FEES FOR CERTAIN
1515 INSTRUCTORS IN HIGH-DEMAND FIELDS
1616 Sec. 57.151. WAIVER OF LICENSE RENEWAL FEES. (a) In this
1717 section, "institution of higher education" has the meaning assigned
1818 by Section 61.003, Education Code.
1919 (b) This section applies only to a license to practice as:
2020 (1) a registered nurse or vocational nurse under
2121 Chapter 301;
2222 (2) a pharmacist under Chapter 558;
2323 (3) a medical radiologic technologist under Chapter
2424 601;
2525 (4) a respiratory care practitioner under Chapter 604;
2626 (5) an engineer under Chapter 1001;
2727 (6) a journeyman plumber or master plumber under
2828 Chapter 1301;
2929 (7) an air conditioning and refrigeration contractor
3030 under Chapter 1302;
3131 (8) a journeyman electrician or master electrician
3232 under Chapter 1305;
3333 (9) an educator under Subchapter B, Chapter 21,
3434 Education Code; or
3535 (10) a bilingual education or special language program
3636 teacher under Section 29.061, Education Code.
3737 (c) A state agency that issues a license to which this
3838 section applies by rule shall waive the license renewal fee for a
3939 faculty member as defined by Section 51.101, Education Code, or
4040 adjunct professor at an institution of higher education who
4141 provides instruction in the field for which the license is
4242 required.
4343 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
