| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 391.0117, Local Government Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (b-1) to | |
| 13 | 13 | read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (b) The salary schedule for classified positions adopted by | |
| 15 | 15 | a [the] commission serving fewer than 200 participating | |
| 16 | 16 | governmental units may not exceed[, for classified positions,] the | |
| 17 | 17 | state salary schedule for classified positions as prescribed by the | |
| 18 | 18 | General Appropriations Act adopted by the most recent legislature. | |
| 19 | 19 | A commission serving fewer than 200 participating governmental | |
| 20 | 20 | units may adopt a salary schedule that is less than the state salary | |
| 21 | 21 | schedule. | |
| 22 | 22 | (b-1) A commission serving 200 or more participating | |
| 23 | 23 | governmental units may adopt a salary schedule for classified | |
| 24 | 24 | positions as determined by the commission. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act applies only to a salary schedule | |
| 26 | 26 | adopted for a fiscal year beginning on or after the effective date | |
| 27 | 27 | of this Act. | |
| 28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
