| 9 | 9 | | relating to the location of and the amount of certain revenue that |

| 10 | 10 | | may be used for state veterans cemeteries. |

| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Sections 164.005(f) and (h), Natural Resources |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Code, are amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (f) The board, the chairman of the Texas Veterans |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Commission, and two representatives of the veterans community |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | selected by the chairman of the Texas Veterans Commission shall: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (1) establish the guidelines for determining: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (A) the location and size of veterans cemeteries; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (B) the eligibility for burial in a veterans |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | cemetery; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (2) select [up to seven] locations across the state |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | for veterans cemeteries. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (h) The board may use [Of the] funds available in the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | veterans' land fund, the veterans' housing assistance fund, and the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | veterans' housing assistance fund II that may be used for veterans |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | cemeteries[, the board may spend not more than $7 million each |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | fiscal year] to plan and design, operate, maintain, enlarge, or |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | improve veterans cemeteries. The board may not use funds from the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | veterans' land fund, the veterans' housing assistance fund, or the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | veterans' housing assistance fund II to acquire land to be used for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | a veterans cemetery. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
