11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. The heading to Subchapter E, Chapter 11, |
---|
13 | 13 | | Education Code, is amended to read as follows: |
---|
14 | 14 | | SUBCHAPTER E. SUPERINTENDENTS, [AND] PRINCIPALS, AND SCHOOL |
---|
15 | 15 | | ADMINISTRATORS |
---|
16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter E, Chapter 11, Education Code, is |
---|
17 | 17 | | amended by adding Section 11.203 to read as follows: |

18 | 18 | | Sec. 11.203. SALARY OF SUPERINTENDENT, PRINCIPAL, OR OTHER |
---|
19 | 19 | | SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR. (a) In this section, "school administrator" |
---|
20 | 20 | | means a person employed by a school district in an executive or |
---|
21 | 21 | | managerial capacity. |
---|
22 | 22 | | (b) A school district may not employ a superintendent, |
---|
23 | 23 | | principal, or other school administrator for an annual salary in an |
---|
24 | 24 | | amount that is greater than the amount of the annual salary |
---|
25 | 25 | | authorized by the legislature for the governor. |
---|
26 | 26 | | (c) The commissioner by rule shall require a school district |
---|
27 | 27 | | to annually report to the agency information regarding the salary |
---|
28 | 28 | | of a superintendent, principal, or other school administrator |
---|
29 | 29 | | employed by the school district. |
---|
30 | 30 | | SECTION 3. This Act applies to an employment contract that |
---|
31 | 31 | | is entered into on or after September 1, 2025. An employment |
---|
32 | 32 | | contract that is entered into before September 1, 2025, is governed |
---|
33 | 33 | | by the law as it existed at the time the contract was entered into, |
---|
34 | 34 | | and the former law remains in effect for that purpose. |
---|
35 | 35 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
