 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the duties of a pharmacist regarding medication
 profiles for high-risk patients in certain hospitals.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 562, Occupations Code, is
 amended by adding Section 562.1012 to read as follows:
 Sec. 562.1012.  MEDICATION PROFILE FOR HIGH-RISK PATIENTS IN
 CERTAIN HOSPITALS. (a)  This section applies only with respect to a
 licensed hospital with more than 100 beds.
 (b)  Except as provided by Subsection (c), a hospital
 pharmacist shall obtain an accurate medication profile for each
 high-risk patient, as determined by hospital policy, admitted to
 the hospital.
 (c)  A pharmacist-intern or pharmacy technician may obtain
 the medication profile described by Subsection (b) if the
 pharmacist-intern or pharmacy technician meets the training
 requirements provided by board rule.
 (d)  The pharmacist-in-charge of an institutional pharmacy
 in a hospital shall develop and implement policies and procedures
 consistent with board rules for obtaining a medication profile
 under this section including determining the timeframe by which a
 patient medication profile must be completed.
 (e)  The board shall adopt rules to implement this section,
 including rules specifying:
 (1)  the contents of a patient medication profile
 required under Subsection (b); and
 (2)  the training requirements for a pharmacist-intern
 or pharmacy technician obtaining a medication profile.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
