12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 1. (a) In this section, "department" means the | |
14 | 14 | Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. | |
15 | 15 | (b) Using existing resources, the department shall conduct | |
16 | 16 | a study on the number of incidents and causes of mold contamination | |
17 | 17 | in housing developments that are wholly or partly supported by | |
18 | 18 | financial assistance the department administers. | |
19 | 19 | (c) Not later than September 1, 2026, the department shall | |
20 | 20 | prepare and submit to the legislature a written report that: | |
21 | 21 | (1) summarizes the results of the study conducted | |
22 | 22 | under this section; and | |
23 | 23 | (2) recommends a course of action for preventing and | |
24 | 24 | remediating incidents and causes of mold contamination in housing | |
25 | 25 | developments that are wholly or partly supported by financial | |
26 | 26 | assistance the department administers. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act expires September 1, 2027. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
