77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to a study on mold contamination in housing developments
1010 supported by financial assistance administered by the Texas
1111 Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. (a) In this section, "department" means the
1414 Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
1515 (b) Using existing resources, the department shall conduct
1616 a study on the number of incidents and causes of mold contamination
1717 in housing developments that are wholly or partly supported by
1818 financial assistance the department administers.
1919 (c) Not later than September 1, 2026, the department shall
2020 prepare and submit to the legislature a written report that:
2121 (1) summarizes the results of the study conducted
2222 under this section; and
2323 (2) recommends a course of action for preventing and
2424 remediating incidents and causes of mold contamination in housing
2525 developments that are wholly or partly supported by financial
2626 assistance the department administers.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act expires September 1, 2027.
2828 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
