| 12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, | |
| 14 | 14 | is amended by adding Section 225.243 to read as follows: | |
| 15 | 15 | Sec. 225.243. CAPTAIN KEVIN WILLIAMS AND FIREFIGHTER AUSTIN | |
| 16 | 16 | CHEEK MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a) The portion of Farm-to-Market Road | |
| 17 | 17 | 2493 in Smith County between its intersection with Church Street in | |
| 18 | 18 | Flint and its intersection with County Road 150 is designated as the | |
| 19 | 19 | Captain Kevin Williams and Firefighter Austin Cheek Memorial | |
| 20 | 20 | Highway. | |
| 21 | 21 | (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall: | |
| 22 | 22 | (1) design and construct markers indicating the | |
| 23 | 23 | designation as the Captain Kevin Williams and Firefighter Austin | |
| 24 | 24 | Cheek Memorial Highway and any other appropriate information; and | |
| 25 | 25 | (2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at | |
| 26 | 26 | appropriate intermediate sites along the highway. | |
| 27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
