11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 38, Education Code, is | |
13 | 13 | amended by adding Section 38.0046 to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 38.0046. APPLICABILITY TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS OF CERTAIN | |
15 | 15 | MISCONDUCT REPORTING LAWS. A requirement in this code or any other | |
16 | 16 | law for a school district or the district's administrators or | |
17 | 17 | employees to report to law enforcement an alleged incident of | |
18 | 18 | misconduct by a district employee, including the requirement to | |
19 | 19 | report abuse or neglect of a child under Section 261.101, Family | |
20 | 20 | Code, applies to a private school in the same manner as if: | |
21 | 21 | (1) the school were a school district; and | |
22 | 22 | (2) the school's administrators and employees were | |
23 | 23 | administrators and employees of a school district. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
