88 AN ACT
99 relating to the designation of a portion of U.S. Highway 79 in
1010 Freestone and Leon Counties as the Cecil and Dorothy Bell Memorial
1111 Highway.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
1414 is amended by adding Section 225.243 to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 225.243. CECIL AND DOROTHY BELL MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a)
1616 The portion of U.S. Highway 79 in Freestone and Leon Counties
1717 between its intersection with the Trinity River and its
1818 intersection with the western municipal limits of Oakwood is
1919 designated as the Cecil and Dorothy Bell Memorial Highway. The
2020 designation is in addition to any other designation.
2121 (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
2222 (1) design and construct markers indicating the
2323 designation as the Cecil and Dorothy Bell Memorial Highway and any
2424 other appropriate information; and
2525 (2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
2626 appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
2727 SECTION 2. It is the intention of the 89th Legislature,
2828 Regular Session, 2025, that the provisions added by this Act be
2929 renumbered to prevent multiple provisions with the same
3030 designation.
3131 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
