9 | 9 | relating to a study by the Texas Education Agency regarding | |
10 | 10 | standardizing building designs for public schools. | |
11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. DEFINITION. In this Act, "agency" means the | |
13 | 13 | Texas Education Agency. | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 2. STUDY REGARDING STANDARDIZED BUILDING DESIGNS. | |
15 | 15 | (a) The agency shall conduct a study regarding standardizing | |
16 | 16 | building designs for public schools. | |
17 | 17 | (b) The study conducted under this section must: | |
18 | 18 | (1) determine the feasibility of establishing a set of | |
19 | 19 | 10 standardized building designs that a school district must choose | |
20 | 20 | from when building a new campus; and | |
21 | 21 | (2) evaluate the effective cost savings to individual | |
22 | 22 | school districts from providing standardized building designs for | |
23 | 23 | school districts building a new campus. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 3. REPORT. Not later than September 1, 2026, the | |
25 | 25 | agency shall submit a report to the governor, the lieutenant | |
26 | 26 | governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and the | |
27 | 27 | chair of each standing committee of the legislature with primary | |
28 | 28 | jurisdiction over education that includes the results of the study | |
29 | 29 | conducted under this Act. | |
30 | 30 | SECTION 4. EXPIRATION. This Act expires September 1, 2027. | |
31 | 31 | SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September | |
32 | 32 | 1, 2025. |
