| 10 | 10 | | 365th Judicial District and the duties of the district attorney for |

| 11 | 11 | | the 293rd Judicial District. |

| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Section 43.177, Government Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 43.177. 293RD JUDICIAL DISTRICT. (a) The voters of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Dimmit and Zavala Counties [the 293rd Judicial District] elect a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | district attorney who represents the state in all matters in the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | [cases before that] district courts having jurisdiction in those |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | counties [court]. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (b) The commissioners court of Dimmit or Zavala County [one |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | or more of the counties comprising the district] may supplement the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | state salary of the district attorney. The commissioners court of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | each county may set the amount of supplemental compensation paid by |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | that county. |

| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 43, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | amended by adding Section 43.1812 to read as follows: |

| 27 | 27 | | Sec. 43.1812. 365TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT. (a) The voters of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Maverick County elect a district attorney for the 365th Judicial |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | District who represents the state in all civil and criminal matters |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | that arise in the district court only in Maverick County. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (b) The district attorney of the 365th Judicial District |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | also represents the state in all criminal and civil matters that |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | arise in the 293rd Judicial District in Maverick County. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 3. The office of district attorney for the 365th |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Judicial District is created on the effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
