| 13 | 13 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 14 | 14 | SECTION 1. Section 752.053, Government Code, is amended by | |
| 15 | 15 | amending Subsection (c) and adding Subsection (d) to read as | |
| 16 | 16 | follows: | |
| 17 | 17 | (c) Notwithstanding Subsection (b)(3), a local entity or | |
| 18 | 18 | campus police department shall [may] prohibit persons who are | |
| 19 | 19 | employed by or otherwise under the direction or control of the | |
| 20 | 20 | entity or department from assisting or cooperating with a federal | |
| 21 | 21 | immigration officer if the assistance or cooperation occurs without | |
| 22 | 22 | a judicial warrant at a place of worship. | |
| 23 | 23 | (d) The personnel of a place of worship may not authorize a | |
| 24 | 24 | federal immigration officer operating within the course and scope | |
| 25 | 25 | of the officer's immigration-related investigation or enforcement | |
| 26 | 26 | duties to enter the place of worship without a judicial warrant. | |
| 27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
