11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 51, Education Code, is | |
13 | 13 | amended by adding Section 51.9762 to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 51.9762. FRAUD, WASTE, AND ABUSE REPORTING. (a) In | |
15 | 15 | this section, "institution of higher education" has the meaning | |
16 | 16 | assigned by Section 61.003. | |
17 | 17 | (b) An institution of higher education that maintains a | |
18 | 18 | system for reporting suspected fraud, waste, and abuse involving | |
19 | 19 | state resources at the institution shall submit each report | |
20 | 20 | received under the system to the state auditor's office not later | |
21 | 21 | than the second business day after the date the institution | |
22 | 22 | receives the report. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
24 | 24 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
25 | 25 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
26 | 26 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
27 | 27 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
