| 11 | 11 | | forces regarding the resources and benefits provided to veterans. |

| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | amended by adding Section 434.0261 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 434.0261. ELECTRONIC DATABASE OF CONTACT INFORMATION |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | FOR SERVICE MEMBERS LEAVING ACTIVE DUTY. (a) The commission shall |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | establish and maintain an electronic database that includes the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | name and contact information of each member of the United States |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | armed forces who: |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (1) has provided written consent to the commission to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | have the member's information included in the database; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (2) will be discharged or released from active duty |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | within 12 months of the date the member provides the consent |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | described by Subdivision (1). |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (b) The database established under Subsection (a) must |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | allow state agencies and local veteran service organizations, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | including veterans county service offices, that have applied to and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | been approved by the commission to access the database for the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | purpose of providing to members of the United States armed forces |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | included in the database information regarding state and local |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | benefits and resources available to veterans, including |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | information regarding employment and training opportunities, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | housing, entrepreneurial and health care services, and veteran |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | support groups. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (c) The commission shall adopt rules necessary to implement |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | and administer this section, including rules establishing the |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | procedure by which entities apply to and are approved by the |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | commission to access the database established under Subsection (a). |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
