11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 41.0052, Election Code, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | adding Subsection (a-3) to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (a-3) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), a municipality on the | |
15 | 15 | Texas-Mexico border with a population of more than 85,000 that | |
16 | 16 | hosts the annual Texas Citrus Fiesta and holds its general election | |
17 | 17 | for officers on a date other than the November uniform election date | |
18 | 18 | may change the date on which it holds its general election for | |
19 | 19 | officers to the November uniform election date. A municipality | |
20 | 20 | described by this subsection that changes the date of its election | |
21 | 21 | under this subsection may not change the date on which it holds its | |
22 | 22 | general election for officers to a date other than the November | |
23 | 23 | uniform election date. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
