77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to authorizing certain municipalities to change the date
1010 on which their general election for officers is held.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 41.0052, Election Code, is amended by
1313 adding Subsection (a-3) to read as follows:
1414 (a-3) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), a municipality on the
1515 Texas-Mexico border with a population of more than 85,000 that
1616 hosts the annual Texas Citrus Fiesta and holds its general election
1717 for officers on a date other than the November uniform election date
1818 may change the date on which it holds its general election for
1919 officers to the November uniform election date. A municipality
2020 described by this subsection that changes the date of its election
2121 under this subsection may not change the date on which it holds its
2222 general election for officers to a date other than the November
2323 uniform election date.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
