9 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 23.013, Tax Code, is amended by adding |

11 | 13 | | Subsection (f) to read as follows: |

12 | 14 | | (f) In this subsection, "historic site" means a structure or |
---|
13 | 15 | | archeological site and the land necessary for access to and use of |
---|
14 | 16 | | the structure or archeological site subject to an exemption under |
---|
15 | 17 | | Section 11.24. In determining the market value of a historic site, |
---|
16 | 18 | | the chief appraiser shall consider the effect on the property's |
---|
17 | 19 | | value of any restriction placed on the property owner's ability to |
---|
18 | 20 | | alter, improve, or repair the property based on the property's |
---|
19 | 21 | | designation as a historic site. |

20 | 22 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies to the appraisal for ad valorem |
---|
21 | 23 | | tax purposes of property that qualifies for an exemption as a |
---|
22 | 24 | | historic or archaeological site only for a tax year beginning on or |
---|
23 | 25 | | after the effective date of this Act. |
---|
24 | 26 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2026. |
