57 AN ACT
68 relating to the appraisal for ad valorem tax purposes of property
79 that qualifies for an exemption as a historic or archaeological

911 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1012 SECTION 1. Section 23.013, Tax Code, is amended by adding
1113 Subsection (f) to read as follows:
1214 (f) In this subsection, "historic site" means a structure or
1315 archeological site and the land necessary for access to and use of
1416 the structure or archeological site subject to an exemption under
1517 Section 11.24. In determining the market value of a historic site,
1618 the chief appraiser shall consider the effect on the property's
1719 value of any restriction placed on the property owner's ability to
1820 alter, improve, or repair the property based on the property's
1921 designation as a historic site.
2022 SECTION 2. This Act applies to the appraisal for ad valorem
2123 tax purposes of property that qualifies for an exemption as a
2224 historic or archaeological site only for a tax year beginning on or
2325 after the effective date of this Act.
2426 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2026.
