11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 44.031(f), Education Code, is amended to | |
13 | 13 | read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (f) This section does not apply to a contract for | |
15 | 15 | professional services rendered, including services of an | |
16 | 16 | architect, attorney, certified public accountant, engineer, or | |
17 | 17 | fiscal agent. A school district may, at its option, contract for | |
18 | 18 | professional services rendered by a financial consultant or a | |
19 | 19 | technology consultant in the manner provided by Section 2254.003, | |
20 | 20 | Government Code, in lieu of the methods provided by this section. | |
21 | 21 | This subsection may not be construed to permit the purchase by a | |
22 | 22 | professional services provider on behalf of a district of goods or | |
23 | 23 | services that would otherwise be subject to the purchase procedures | |
24 | 24 | required by this subchapter in a manner that violates those | |
25 | 25 | procedures. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
